A car dealership in Beeston is refusing to submit the paperwork for a customer's number plates because they are awaiting money from the government for the "old banger" trade-in.
Marie Jones bought a car from her local car dealer June 30th and traded in her old 1995 Vauxhall as part of the "Cash for old bangers" scheme.
After she'd nade the purchase, she was given temporary 4 week number plates while she waited for permanent ones. However, because the dealership has not been paid for Jones' trade-in, they are refusing to submit the paperwork thus stopping her number plates from being released.
"We're happy with the car and everything else, but now we just can't get the number plates for my car," said Jones.
Ian Brand, Manager of the dealership, referred Jones to Rambler Corporation, which owns the dealership.
Until the money arrives, brand said they will continue to hold on to the number plates.
State law says dealers are required to sumbit paperwork get the number plates to customers within 4 weeks, including dealers waiting for money from the federal government.
Jones told us she has been advised her Congressman not make a payment until she has recieved her number plates.
After Jones made contact wbith regards to her number plates, she was promised that the dealership would pay for any penalties she incurred for driving with the expired temporary number plates.
