The Armenian government decided to take account of the soft spot of their constituents for so-called "Gold" number plates.
The executive body suggested amendments to the RoA Law on Public Auctions which defines the order of obtaining "Gold" numbers.
Deputy Chief of the RoA Police was unable to answer MPs' questions concerning the auction of number plates and promised to address them before the second hearing.
According to the draft law, starting price for the participation is 6 000 drams.
"Frequently, people bid higher prices for the number plates during the auction, some tens of thousands of drams," Deputy Chief of the RoA Police Hovhannes Hunanyan announced at the National Assembly today.
Under the draft law, if the owner of the "Gold" plates dies, the number plates are returned to the state. MP Artsvik Minasyan objected to this stating the number plates should be given to their heirs.
Stepan Safaryan thinks the law must control the hike of prices during auctions and specify whether the number belongs to the owner or to the state.
Number plates was the most discussed subjects at the National Assembly today.
