The city Conservation Office wants its residents to recycle old number plates as new ones are will shortly be issued.
The metal number plates can be recycled with drinks cans at any city recycling site, placed into curbside containers, or taken to a recycling center.
"If citizens don't want their old number plates for sentimental reasons, we hope they'll recycle them rather than just throwing hem away," said Mark Hayes, city conservation coordinator. "It's also a good idea to cut them in half with tin snips to prevent theft."
