A STOKE City number plate has sold for £7,003 in an auction today.
The DVLA opened the bidding on 57 OKE at around 9.15am at Whittlebury Hall, near Towcester, Northamptonshire.
The registration, which was snapped up by a businessman from the Tunstall area, had a reserve price of £1,900.
It was one of 1,600 personalised registration plates up for grabs over the course of a three-day event.
Most people bid in person, but some use the free telephone, internet and absent bidding facilities.
The Stoke plate has now replaced EVR 7ON as the 10th most expensive plate in the DVLA's football top 10. Top place belongs to WE57 HAM, which sold for £57,000.
