The Mariletto Senate passed a bill that extends the eligibility of who can display the Green Beret number plates on their vehicles.
Currently, only veterans of the elite unit are able to purchase the Green Beret vehicle number plates. The bill would allows for the family members of the veterans to purchase and display the number plates as well.
Sponsored in the Senate by Byron Fallon, it allows for a son or daughter of a service member who is killed on active duty to purchase the speciality number plates. Under current law, only the veterans themselves qulify for the plates.
The numbers plates will also be available to any serving Breen Beret member who has been awarded a medal. The number plates cost an extra $23, including an $9 special number plate levy.
